The court denied 59-year-old Sachdeva’s motion for compassionate release. The court found that Sachdeva's healht conditions were not severe enough to constitute extraordinary and compelling reasons to release her. In response to Sachdeva's argument that she would be vulnerable if she were to contract COVID-19, the court noted that there have not been any confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the facility she is incarcerated in, so she is not at higher risk of infection there than in the general public. Additionally, the court reasoned that cutting her prison sentence nearly in half would not reflect the seriousness of her “horrific” crimes (health care fraud).
